Move For Hunger, a non-profit organization that works with moving companies to fight hunger across the nation, welcomes Movers USA as one of the first companies in Maryland to join their hunger-relief efforts. The moving company has already collected over 500 pounds of food for the Maryland Food Bank to help local families.
The food bank indicates that over 650,000 people in Maryland are living on incomes that put them at risk of hunger every year. Thirty-one percent of those at risk are children. In recent years, these numbers have been on the rise. Although hunger is often a problem that is overlooked in the United States, thousands of people in our area are dependent on the food bank for help.
Those who have moved in the past may be aware that a lot of “stuff” is thrown away during the moving process. Unfortunately, many times this “stuff” is food that could be delivered to a family in need. Movers USA has decided to team up with Move For Hunger to change this. Every customer will now be asked to donate their unwanted, non-perishable food items to help hungry families.
Movers USA’s professional moving staff will assist with the boxing and transportation of the food donations at no inconvenience to the customer. Thus far Movers USA has received an overwhelmingly positive response, and their generous customers have donated over 500 pounds of food to feed local families.
